As a (researcher/writer/lecturer), Dr. Kaye Bennett Dotson, Associate Professor Emerita at East Carolina University in Greenville, NC, is passionate about creating and delivering compelling content that engages and informs readers. With a strong work ethic and a commitment to education, Kaye is dedicated to sharing her vision and approach to teaching and learning. Her research focuses on leadership development for librarians and the possibility for impact on future generations. She served over twenty years as a practicing school librarian, presenting at conferences, and publishing articles about the role of librarians prior to joining the Library Science faculty at ECU. Her work in the profession continues, in research/writing, volunteering service, and teaching graduate students.
Enjoying life's work and having fun along the way, sums up Kaye's professional philosophy and style. Contributing to professional literature and inspired by a belief that teaching and learning can be fun, Dotson authored books The Value of Games: Putting Play Back into Practice for Children, and more recently Banana I Am and Always Will Be: As Decided by You and Decided by Me. Recent awards received include the Ray Moore Award, the Joyner Library East Carolina University Faculty Author Book Award, the Leadership Legacy of Beta Upsilon Presidents Award, and the North Carolina Society of Historians Award of Excellence.
